Product Strategy and Leadership in the AI Era: the June edition

In June 2026, Pinnacle Product Institute welcomed Gibson Biddle and Ravi Mehta to speak with our audience as part of Product Conversations. The edition connected product strategy grounded in business examples with leadership focused on effective teams and the changing opportunities of AI. Oyama Nzan was also invited to share an innovation perspective on how AI could accelerate new ideas and open opportunities for businesses and jobs.

Why these perspectives belonged together

A product strategy needs clear choices about customer value, differentiation and investment. Changes in technology can alter those choices, while teams need the capabilities and direction to respond. We invited Gibson Biddle, Ravi Mehta and Oyama Nzan to connect these concerns: clear strategic choices, capable teams and the innovation opportunities created by advancing AI.

Gibson Biddle — Product strategy through real business examples

We invited Gibson to ground the edition in practical strategic choices. His case-based approach was relevant to our audience’s questions about evaluating opportunities, explaining product priorities and choosing a direction that creates customer value while supporting the business.

Ravi Mehta — Effective teams and product strategy for the AI era

We invited Ravi to connect strategic direction with the leadership needed to act on it as AI changes the product landscape. His expertise was relevant to practitioners considering where AI can create customer value, how their strategy should evolve and what their teams need to deliver effectively.

Oyama Nzan — AI-powered innovation and new opportunities

We invited Oyama Nzan, an industry-recognised innovation expert, to share his perspective on how AI is advancing and accelerating innovation. His experience of innovating within organisations, including JLR, made his perspective relevant to product practitioners considering how to turn emerging technology into useful products, services and new ventures.

The value of his invitation was the connection between faster innovation and wider economic opportunity. AI can help reduce the effort involved in exploring ideas, prototyping solutions and testing a business proposition. That raises the possibility of thousands of new businesses and jobs, while also bringing questions about changing roles, skills, access and the viability of those ventures.

For Pinnacle’s audience, this perspective linked the AI conversation to practical decisions: which problems deserve attention, where a new business could create value, and what people need to participate in emerging work. The scale of business and job creation remains a possibility to evaluate, not a guaranteed forecast or an attributed quotation.

Connecting strategy, team capability and innovation

The three perspectives framed related questions: what should a product business choose to do, how should its leaders equip teams to pursue that direction, and where could AI accelerate innovation or enable a new venture? In the AI era, those questions remain closely linked. An opportunity deserves attention when it addresses a customer need and fits the business; acting on it also requires clear responsibilities, appropriate skills and a way to learn whether the investment works.

Questions to carry into your own practice

Which customer problem gives your strategy purpose? What trade-off makes your direction clear? Where could AI change your product’s value or competitive position? What new capability would help your team respond? Which activity could AI make faster, and how would you validate the resulting business opportunity? What skills or new roles would be needed to support it? These are Pinnacle’s editorial reflection questions, rather than quotations or a transcript of the speakers’ remarks.
