Understand the conditions

Advice from an experienced practitioner can offer a valuable starting point. Before adopting it, ask which customer, business model and team conditions made it useful. Your situation may share some of those conditions while differing in important ways.

Turn the advice into an assumption

Describe what you believe the approach will improve and why. For example, a shorter onboarding path may help customers reach value sooner, but only if it preserves the information they need. Make that assumption explicit so the team can evaluate it.

Choose a proportionate test

Explore the approach on a bounded problem and decide what evidence would justify expanding it. Capture what worked, what did not and which conditions affected the result. Applying advice thoughtfully develops judgment more effectively than repeating a framework without examining its purpose.
